Who am I?
I’m a native English linguist specialising in subtitles and voice-over. As video content has become increasingly prominent online, so have subtitles. But not all subtitles out there are made to a professional quality and I believe audiences deserve the best.

Qualified
I have an MA in Audiovisual Translation from the University of Leeds, which equipped me with the technical skills and linguistic strategies to create accurate subtitles and adapted voice-over translations, as well as captions for d/Deaf and Hard-of-hearing viewers. Since 2021, I’ve been tutoring German to English subtitling on the same course.
Language lover
I also have a BA in French and German from University College London, which included a year in Berlin and Montpellier, studying at Humboldt University of Berlin and Paul Valéry University. Over four years, I studied film, literature and graphic novels in French and German. I understand how films are constructed, how meaning is made and how viewers process information from different modes like sound, image and text.
Former AV project manager
Before setting up my own company, I worked as a project manager at two different translation companies. I introduced subtitling guidelines, trained subtitlers, created subtitle templates, quality checked subtitles and voice-over, and resynchronised subtitles against target voice-over on a daily basis.
And most importantly of all…
Part-time noise-maker!
When I’m not at my desk, you’ll find me drumming in a band called Katumba, which fuses carnival beats from Northeast Brazil and UK club music. I also help them lead drumming workshops for well-being and team-building. Watch me play at the Liverpool arena here!
I also have ABRSM Grade 7 Piano and Grade 5 Music Theory.
